Health Matters in Plymouth

‘Community health activities make a real difference to real lives!’

Wolseley Trust is a community anchor organisation based in an inner city area which is ranked within the top most deprived neighbourhoods in Plymouth. It uses its surplus trading from the 3 business parks to manage and support a range of community health initiatives.
Our main community interface is via the Jan Cutting Healthy Living Centre which provides a range of services and activities which support and promote positive lifestyle improvement. The Plymouth Health Matters programme will complement this and will enable partners to highlight and focus on the three core themes of:

• Healthy eating
• Increasing physical activity
• Improving mental health

Plymouth Health Matters is a  programme that will support a variety of innovative projects and activities which will enable a broad spectrum of people of all ages, genders and backgrounds to access well being organisations and activities. Working in partnership with a range of organisations we will provide cooking clubs, healthy tuck shops, a food co-op, community gym, walking groups, family counselling, lifestyle assessment, befriending and advocacy.

Match funding through the Wolseley Trusts will enable us to obtain a maximum impact from the Big Lottery fund. The Plymouth Health Matters  aims to impact on and improve the health and well being of approximately 3,000 people citywide.
