Transport to medical appointments (available to patients of Exminster, Starcross, Barnfield Hill, St leonards, Wonford Green, Whipton and Isca Surgeries.
Westbank has a small number of volunteer drivers, who are available to help those unable to access public transport, or without family or friends nearby to help get them to their appointments. The service aims to reduce the number of missed NHS appointments, and offers an extra help and support to patients who would otherwise find it difficult to attend their medical appointment. We ask for a small minimum donation of £5-7 to cover expenses for the trip. If you, or someone you know has a car and a full clean driving licence and would like to help, then please contact Hannah or Julie on 01392 824752 (option 2). You can commit as much or as little time as you would like.
Visiting & befriending (available to patients of 6 Exeter Surgeries, the Westbank Practice)
We have volunteers who can visit people who are isolated in their homes. This can be on a weekly basis, or on whatever basis suits both the volunteer and the person being visited. Referrals need to come from either a medical professional or from Social Services.
