Devon Carers are launching a new role for Carer Ambassadors.

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic, approachable carers and ex-carers who would like to make a contribution to the support of other carers in the local community.

  • Are you passionate about making life better for other carers?
  • Do you enjoy making links with other people and talking about carers’ issues?
  • Are you well organised and want to make a difference to local carers?

Then this might be just the role for you!

As a Carers’ Ambassador, you could be arranging a stand at your local library, delivering leaflets to the GP surgery, acting as a local information point for carers, attending a public information event or identifying and talking to individual carers to help them to access vital support services through Devon Carers. The role is about raising the profile of carers and the issues affecting them in their local community. You will also be invited to attend the quarterly Carers’ Ambassadors Network Meeting where you can liaise with other carers’ ambassadors and discuss all the issues that have been highlighted to you whilst in your role. The role is varied and is an exciting opportunity to benefit yourself and the wider community of carers in your area.

We would be looking for a commitment of approximately half a day per month – or more if you feel you can offer that. Any time would be agreed in advance, and travel/out-of-pocket expenses resulting from being in the role will be reimbursed. Training and support will be provided through the Peer Support Team.
