Fun, Easy and Social Community Cooking Sessions A new community cooking initiative in Cullompton, Tiverton and Exeter Fun, Easy and Social Cooking offer ongoing sessions giving participants the opportunity to learn how to cook on a budget, cook for one, avoid food waste and to cook healthier meals; it is run in a fun and friendly group environment. The sessions are run monthly both 11am-2pm to prepare then share lunch: in Cullompton at The Walronds, 6 Fore St, Cullompton, EX15 1JL on the following dates: Fridays on 15 February, 15 March, 12 April, 17 May and 21 June. in Tiverton at Sunningmead Community Centre, Lazenbury Rd, Tiverton, EX16 4AL: Mondays fortnightly on 1st, 15th and 29th July. Sessions are 11am-2pm, book your place to give it a try and taste some home-made food! The cost per session is £3.50 each or £3 when three or more are booked together. You can attend all or some of the sessions. Places are limited so booking is essential. We also have a brand new initiative for young parents / carers who wish to learn how to cook healthy family meals for weaning babies and toddlers. Following each session you have the opportunity to eat with your children. Sessions run 11.30am- 1.30pm at The Walronds in Cullompton on 11th and 25th June and 9th and 23rd July and cost only £2 each. In Exeter new community cooking sessions are running at the Newtown Community Hut in Belmont Park on Fridays 11am-1.30pm in partnership with Friends of Mount Pleasant and Sainsbury's Charity of the Year. Dates are 5th and 19th July, 2nd, 16th and 30th August and 13th September. sessions cost only £1 with help with funding from Sainsburys. Katheryn Hope, Healthy Neighbourhoods says "Do you need ideas on how to cook healthy budget meals for your family or are you alone and would like to learn easy ways to start cooking? Whether you're a complete beginner or need new ideas, join our small friendly hands-on monthly cooking sessions in a safe, fun environment. Ingredients are provided and sessions finish with everyone sharing the delicious food together." We are also looking for volunteers to support this activity. If you enjoy cooking, then we would love to have you as a volunteer to help participants benefit from these sessions by sharing your knowledge and enjoyment of cooking with them.
