Westbank, a local charity dedicated to providing care and promoting health, is calling for people to sign up as Neighbourhood Friends to help people in the Exmouth area.

We are holding a Volunteer Recruitment Open Day, where people can find out more about becoming an Exmouth Neighbourhood Friend on:

Wednesday 27th September

at the following times and locations:

10am – 12noon: Exmouth Tennis and Leisure Centre, Withycombe Village Road, Exmouth EX8 3AE

3.30pm – 6pm: Exmouth Leisure Centre, The Royal Avenue, Exmouth EX8 1EW

Sarah Forde, Project Manager, explained

"Volunteer opportunities include: supporting a person to return home from hospital, including making their home ready, turning the heating on, picking up essential items from the shop, having a cooked meal ready; supporting with practical help such as putting bins out, helping with DIY, fitting a key safe; helping someone to prepare their lunch; befriending, having a cuppa and chat with a person in their home, being a social buddy or a walking or gardening buddy.  Volunteers can get involved at a level to suit them, and give as much or as little time as they are able to.  Free training is provided including a comprehensive induction programme with continued support to help all volunteers; agreed out of pocket expenses will also be paid”
