Devon Carers

Devon Carers is a FREE service aimed at providing support to unpaid carers.

You are a carer if you provide unpaid support for family or friends who need help because they are ill, frail, disabled or have a mental health or substance misuse problem.

Devon Carers is commissioned jointly by Devon County Council and the NHS Devon Clinical Commissioning Group to provide support services and assessments to unpaid carers across Devon. We offer a range of carers support services from preventative advice and information to carers assessments and support planning under the Care Act 2014. Devon Carers, delivered by Devon-based charity Westbank Community Health and Care, supports over 20,000 unpaid carers across Devon through a range of support and services.

Neighbourhood Friends

Neighbourhood Friends is a flexible and responsive support service focussed on avoiding hospital admissions and reducing hospital stays.

In 2022 our Neighbourhood Friends Volunteers carried over 2000 patients.
Holiday Club

Open Monday to Friday in all school holidays (excluding the time between Christmas and New Year and Bank Holidays)
for children aged 3 to 11 years
Health Walks

Did you know we offer 15,000 Health Walk places across 24 locations in Devon, offering the chance to explore the outdoors, get to know the local area and meet new friends?

Walks are accessible to all and range from Short Level 1 - Up to 30 minutes, to Long Level 3 - 60 to 90 minutes.

All walks are led by our fully trained Volunteer Walk Leaders.

Am I a young carer?

A young carer is someone under the age of 18 who helps look after, or whose life is affected by, a relative with a disability, illness, mental health condition, or drug or alcohol problem.
Patient Transport

Our patient transport service enables people to attend their healthcare appointment and exercise and rehabilitation classes.

In 2022, our Patient Transport service carried over 750 patients.
