Location: Exminster

Hours: 30-37 per week by agreement

Salary: The salary range is £36,153 up to £42,806 pro rata to hours worked. The salary on appointment will depend on the experience and qualifications of the successful applicant.

Westbank, a vibrant and respected Third Sector organisation delivers the Devon Carers service providing a range of preventive and support services to carers across the County.

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and innovative professional who holds a social work qualification and has hands-on experience in delivering and developing teams and social work practice.

You will lead and develop teams responsible for the provision of carers services across Devon. You will also provide strategic leadership across the Devon Carers countywide service which will be strong, visible, and credible.

You will work in partnership with a wide variety of key stakeholders, most importantly carers but also commissioners and care management colleagues to deliver Devon’s vision for carers. You will receive professional support, and your professional development, will be overseen by the Principal Social Worker (Commissioning), although direction and guidance will also be available from the commissioners.

We will give you all the support you need to act with authority and purpose in the Devon Carers service as the lead professional for social work and Carer Support Management (care management for carers). A key aspect of your role will be ownership of the Workforce Development Plan, to ensure our workforce has all the skills and competencies they need to be the best they can in supporting carers.

You will have a position of seniority within Westbank commensurate with these responsibilities: Deputy Manager (Carer Support Management).

You will manage staff and resources, alongside relationships with key agencies to ensure timely and effective assessment, personalised support planning, and support management.

You will ensure teams and individuals:

  • understand and apply legislation, as well as national and local policy requirements;
  • work within agreed procedures;
  • develop and maintain effective working relationships;
  • meet required performance expectations; and
  • deliver a service to the public that meets required quality standards and which optimises the opportunity for people to lead and manage their support.
