We are looking for an eager and experienced person to join our busy, friendly Kidzone team.

Westbank is a well-established charity based in Exminster that aims to promote and improve the health and wellbeing of people in the local community, across Devon and beyond. Established in 1986, Westbank now works with communities and individuals across Devon through various services, including Devon Carers, Neighbourhood Friends, Healthier Devon Type 2 Diabetes Prevention, Kidzone, Daycare and Health and Fitness. We also manage Seachange, based in Budleigh Salterton, providing an inspiring programme of support for the local community.

Overall Job Purpose

  • To assist the Childcare Manager in delivering day-to-day activities at Westbank’s Kidzone After School and Holiday Clubs, as well as our Family Time services;
  • Provide stimulating activities and a high standard of care for children aged 3-12 years, in a safe and secure environment;
  • Support the development of the activities and opportunities provided to the children.

New Pre-School Provision: Kidzone will be opening a new Pre-School provision in September, so there will be an opportunity to be a part of this exciting development to our existing services.

To be considered as a Childcare Practitioner, you will need:

  • A Childcare/Practitioner qualification, or NVQ Level 2, or above, qualification in Childcare;
  • Experience of caring for, or working with, children aged 3-12;
  • Committed to providing high-quality childcare with an interest in the care, learning and development of young children;
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a positive approach to inclusive practice;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and actively contribute to the planning of activities and decision making;
  • A good understanding of the Play work Principles and Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Previous experience of leading when planning and delivering play experiences that engage children.
