Role Description:

Craft and Chat is a new project being developed as part of Westbank Healthy Neighbourhoods. Volunteers support one person in their home to take part in arts and crafts based around their individual needs and interests. The aim of the project is to improve the social, mental and physical wellbeing of people who may lack confidence, feel isolated or are going through a tough time and will benefit from the support and befriending of a volunteer.

Qualities and skills required:

  • Basic knowledge and interest in arts and crafts
  • Ability to encourage and enable other people
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Patient and understanding
  • Reliable
  • Polite
  • Discreet
  • Flexible

Volunteers will receive:

  • Induction training
  • Specific training according to their role
  • A point of contact for support and or guidance
  • Social opportunities
  • Agreed out of pocket expenses reimbursed including travel
