We are looking to recruit a volunteer who loves cycling. You will help participants aged over 50 get more from cycling in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere together with a lead volunteer. The Westbank Healthy Neighbourhoods project is running new cycling sessions in Cullompton. Volunteers engage people of 50 years and over who would like to get fit as part of a small friendly group together. The aim of the activity is to improve the social, mental and physical well-being of people in the community who will benefit from being part of a small social group all taking part. You will receive support and training to help with this new fortnightly group cycling together with a lead volunteer.

What is involved

Welcome and register regular and new participants on each led ride.

Ask new participants to complete a health questionnaire.

Either act as the front or back leader on a cycle ride at a suitable pace for the group.

Adapt to circumstances and participate on the day of the cycle ride.

Check all participants complete the cycle ride and obtain feedback.

Encourage all participants to socialise in the break.

  • Experience and lots of enthusiasm for cycling
  • Ability to encourage and enable participants
  • Warm, friendly and outgoing
  • Patient and understanding with different levels of cycling whether acting as the front leader or back leader
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Reliable
  • Flexible - can adapt to circumstances on the day and adjust the pace to suit the group

All agreed expenses are reimbursed including travel.
