Introduction

Westbank is a registered charity established in 1986 and became company limited by guarantee in 2007.  Westbank was established to provide practical and emotional support to people in the villages along the west bank of the River Exe.  The organization now works with communities and individuals across Devon. Westbank’s Community Care and Healthy Living Centre premises are in Exminster The Centre includes a very innovative gym with disabled access equipment, after school and holiday club for children, gymnastics club, conference and meeting facilities and a community café named Seedlings.  We also operate a charity shop and meeting place in Starcross and manage the Budleigh Health & Community Hub, based in Budleigh Salterton, which provides health and wellbeing services to communities across East Devon. We also deliver an NHS diabetes prevention programme both in Devon, across the southwest and nationally.

In 2018, Westbank recruited a new CEO, and as part of the ongoing development, the current management structure is under review. To enable a smooth change programme, we are looking to recruit a couple of temporary posts to our Management Teams, either through secondment from Westbank or externally. This role is one of those roles that will support us during this time. 

Overall Job Purpose

Although initially a temporary role, the role of External Services Manager is there to support the department managers, providing them with strategic direction and driving standards. 

You will be responsible for improving performance and driving efficiency across our service departments such as the Day Care Centre, The Gym, Gym Club (Children’s), Hospitality and Community Café and Our Charity Shop, in Starcross. You will provide strategic direction for the teams while establishing yourself as a vital communication partner, enhancing greater integration of projects across all departments.  

You will manage complex projects across multiple sites, ensuring services are fit for purpose while looking for development opportunities. You will be required to provide ongoing reports on management, budgeting and auditable information for the Senior Management Team as required.
