Family Arts and Crafts is a new project being developed as part of the Westbank Healthy Neighbourhoods project. Volunteers engage families including primary aged children in fun and creative arts and crafts sessions after school. The aim of the project is to improve the social, mental and physical well-being of people in the community who may lack confidence in parenting skills, feel isolated or be going though a tough time and will benefit from being part of a social group all taking part in arts and crafts together.

What is not involved

Intensive commitment; these are likely to be no more than fortnightly sessions from 3.30pm for one hour during term-time.

What is involved

Helping support the lead volunteer with creative arts and craft sessions for both adults and children using a variety of skills.

Qualities and skills involved

  • A love of and ability to facilitate arts and crafts projects to both children and adults that may include painting, sewing, knitting, mask making amongst other activities. 
  • Ability to encourage and enable family members as part of a small volunteer team.
  • Love of children
  • Creative, imaginative, patient and understanding

For this position there are opportunities starting from April in Cullompton.
