Award-winning Devon based charity Westbank have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Kidzone Team as part of our Ofsted registered After School Club, Pre-school, Holiday Club and Family Time, as our Childcare Manager.

Your role will include:

Westbank is looking for a Childcare Manager to run our successful and well-established child-centred After School and Holiday Club, which caters for children aged 3 – 12 years. In April 2021, due to increased demand, Westbank also opened a Pre-school provision, for which this role would have oversight and management of. Our ideal candidate will be able to enthusiastically lead and motivate the Kidzone team, whilst delivering high quality play opportunities for all our children in a safe, supportive and caring environment. This is a unique opportunity to work within a well-established busy setting.

About you:

We will be shortlisting on the following criteria so please use the supporting statement, or make reference in your CV, to evidence how you meet these:

  • Childcare qualification or NVQ in Play work (Level 3) or above;
  • Previous experience of caring for, or working with, children aged 3-12;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the Playwork Principles and Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and Ofsted welfare requirements;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade, influence and when appropriate, challenge with tact and diplomacy;
  • Excellent administration, organisational and record-keeping skills, and ability to write in a clear, concise and professional manner;
  • Understanding of principles of confidentiality and equal opportunities;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with colleagues, parents, carers and children;
  • A positive approach to learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities;
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding and welfare requirements, as well as processes for reporting;
  • Ability to work as a member of a professional team to meet shared objectives;
  • Experience of using MS Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

The organisation was originally set up to provide practical and emotional support to people in the villages along the west bank of the River Exe. The centre in Exminster includes an innovative gym with disabled access equipment, Kidzone, conference facilities, day care services and volunteering and community support services. We also manage Seachange, based in Budleigh Salterton, which provides health and wellbeing services to communities across East Devon; and deliver Healthier Devon Type 2 Diabetes prevention programme in Devon.
