About the role:

We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Childcare Practitioner, who will become a proactive member of our Kidzone team. You will play a crucial role in assisting the Childcare Manager in delivering fun, interesting and engaging day-to-day activities, and a high standard of care, for the children at Westbank’s Kidzone After School & Holiday Club, Pre-School and Play Group services.

Our Ofsted-registered Kidzone team prides itself in delivering stimulating, exciting and engaging activities at our After School, Holiday Club and Play Group services. We have recently opened a new pre-school provision, designed to assist young children to begin their learning and start developing their skills through play, learning and interaction with other children. As a Childcare Practitioner, you will have the rare opportunity of playing a part in the development, and implementation, of this new service.

As a Childcare Practitioner:

  • You will assist the Childcare Manager in delivering day-to-day activities at Westbank’s Kidzone After School & Holiday Club, Pre-School and Play Group services;
  • You will provide stimulating activities and a high standard of care for children aged between 3-12 in a safe, secure environment;
  • You will contribute to maintaining a varied and interesting selection of activities and play experiences for the children, becoming an integral part of their learning and development journey;
  • You will provide full care for the children, including: collecting children from school and provision of snacks/refreshments, providing play opportunities and extend learning through play;
  • You will maintain accurate data records, ensuring all administration is processed efficiently.

What we are looking for:

We will be shortlisting on the following criteria, so please make reference as to how you meet these in your covering letter, ensuring similar work examples are included

  • Childcare Qualification, or NVQ in Play Work (Level 2 essential, Level 3 desirable);
  • An understanding of the Play Work Principles and Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum;
  • Level 2 Safeguarding Awareness Training (training will be offered);
  • Health & Safety, Food Hygiene in the Workplace and Paediatric First Aid Certificates (training will be offered);
  • Previous experience of caring for, or working with, children aged 3-12 in a voluntary or paid capacity;
  • Enthusiasm for giving the highest possible quality care and educational opportunities;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with colleagues, parents, carers and children;
  • Previous experience of teaching in a Pre-School setting (desirable).

Rate of pay: £12,480.00 pro rata - £19,240.00 FTE (Level 2 Qualified)

                     £13,104.00 pro rata - £20,202.00 FTE (Level 3 Qualified)

Hours per week: 24 – 37 per week (flexibility available with working days)

Location: Westbank, Exminster

Contract: Permanent
