We are looking for a motivated and experienced person to join our busy and friendly Devon Carers Team!

Devon Carers is a service delivered by Westbank, and is one of the largest and most successful carer’s services in the UK, providing information and support to over 22,000 unpaid carers of all ages. We employ local staff to deliver the work of Devon Carers, across Devon, as part of an integrated service.

Your role will include:

As the Employer Engagement Lead:

  • You will contribute to the ongoing development and roll-out of our Carer Friendly Devon scheme;
  • You will identify and build effective working relationships with employers across the county, encouraging participation in the scheme as well as ongoing contact;
  • You will work with the Community Engagement Team to assist with awareness raising activities including distribution of publicity, attending awareness stands and events (including Carers Week and Carers Rights Day);
  • You will deliver awareness training programmes for employers;
  • You will identify and build effective stakeholder relationships.

About you:

We will be shortlisting on the following criteria, so please use the supporting statement, or make reference in your CV, to evidence how you meet these.

  • High level of interpersonal skills, including substantial experience of building effective working relationships, both internally and externally, with other agencies and stakeholders;
  • Experienced in public speaking, across a range of audiences, with excellent presentation skills;
  • Good IT skills, good understanding of MS Office packages and experience of using video conference software;
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and use own initiative with excellent attention to detail, particularly in relation to recording and reporting;
  • Ability and commitment to working flexibly as the role requires, including occasional weekend and evening work;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to develop learning and development materials;
  • Ability to work on own initiative, as well as a member of a team;
  • Access to transport.

Rate of pay: £26,022.48 per annum

Hours per week: 37

Location: Priest Court, Exminster and Working from home

Contract: Fixed Term until 30/04/2023

About Westbank:

Westbank is an award-winning registered charity, based in Devon, established in 1986. The organisation was originally set up to provide practical and emotional support to people in the villages along the west bank of the River Exe. The organisation now works with communities and individuals across Devon.

We deliver our Devon Carers and Devon Young Carers services across Devon. The centre in Exminster includes a gym with disabled access equipment, Kidzone, conference facilities, day care services and volunteering; our community support services are delivered to local communities across Devon. We also manage Seachange, based in Budleigh Salterton, which provides health and wellbeing services to communities across East Devon.
