We are looking for an eager and experienced person to join our busy and friendly, Contact Centre team.

Devon Carers is a service delivered by Westbank and is one of the largest and most successful carer’s services in the UK, providing information and support to over 22,000 unpaid carers of all ages. We employ local staff to deliver the work of Devon Carers, across Devon, as part of an integrated service.

Your role will involve:

  • Helping carers to access our services;
  • Inputting data onto our database;
  • Making and responding to phone or electronic enquiries;
  • Signposting and/or referring carers for an assessment of their needs;
  • Providing cover for colleagues.

This is a varied role engaging and responding to carers needs, by providing support through various methods of contact including, telephone, email, and webchat, in a non-pressurised environment.

About You

We will be shortlisting on the following criteria, so please use the supporting statement, or make reference in your CV, to evidence how you meet these:

  • Excellent communication skills, with an empathetic/understanding approach to carers and their needs;
  • Sound knowledge of the Data Protection Act and GDPR;
  • Experience of working in a call centre;
  • Good IT knowledge, with the ability to confidently use MS Office packages, and in-house databases;
  • Experience of effectively working within a team;
  • Flexible approach to working hours/days (due to the occasional Saturday working);
  • To be reliable and punctual in all aspects of your work.

Rate of pay: £17,674.29 pro rata

Hours per week: 37 (including the occasional Saturday morning)

Location: Priest Court, Exminster (currently homeworking following training & induction)

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 30/04/2023

About Westbank:

Westbank is an award-winning registered charity, based in Devon, established in 1986. The organisation was originally set up to provide practical and emotional support to people in the villages along the west bank of the River Exe. The organisation now works with communities and individuals across Devon.

We deliver our Devon Carers and Devon Young Carers services across Devon. The centre in Exminster includes a gym with disabled access equipment, Kidzone, conference facilities, day care services and volunteering; our community support services are delivered to local communities across Devon. We also manage Seachange, based in Budleigh Salterton, which provides health and wellbeing services to communities across East Devon.
