About the Role:

We are looking to recruit a passionate support worker, who will play a crucial role in supporting young carers by undertaking transition assessments and identifying their on-going needs. You will also establish relationships with targeted schools, supporting them to seek Carers Trust Young Carers in Schools Accreditation.

As a Young Carers Support Worker (Schools):

  • You will work with targeted schools, establishing relationships, which support them to seek Carers Trust Young Carers in Schools Accreditation;
  • You will undertake transition assessments with young carers aged 14 and over to identify their on-going needs;
  • You will support the provision of practical and emotional support for young carers by attending trips and activities (including some residentials);
  • You will, where necessary, link young carers and their families into support and opportunities offered by partner agencies;
  • You will identify and respond to child protection issues and concerns in line with agreed guidance, policies and procedures, including completing MASH enquiries.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of working with children / young people;
  • Show an understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of young carers and their families;
  • Ability to carry out assessments and identify support needs for organisations;
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines with good attention to detail;
  • Ability to use own initiative to resolve issues;
  • Show an understanding of the principles of confidentiality and equal opportunities;
  • Ability to work flexibly (including occasional evenings / weekends);
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.

Rate of pay: £8,291.21 pro rata (£19,173.43 FTE) (to be reviewed following successful probationary period)

Hours per week: 16

Location: Homebased (with travel throughout the county)

Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31/03/2023
