Volunteers support approximately eight participants to cook healthy food for weaning babies, toddlers and young children as part of a small volunteer team.

The project aims to support parents who may lack confidence in their cooking skills, are weaning their babies or would like guidance on cooking healthy, tasty food for their family. They will benefit from being part of a social group all learning cooking skills together. Young children also participate in learning to cook, and everyone eats lunch together.

Deciding together with your team the recipes to cook at regular sessions, and a small amount of admin registering participants at their first session. 

Qualities and skills required:

  • Knowledge of healthy eating and food hygiene principles, particularly weaning and cooking for a family
  • Food hygiene training provided as part of the role
  • Ability to encourage and enable other people as part of a small team
  • Empathy and understanding of being a young parent
  • Love of children
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Patient and reliable.
  • Respectful and flexible

All agreed expenses are reimbursed, including travel.
