Volunteers from Honiton Hospital League of Friends and Neighbourhood Friends are working in partnership to help older and vulnerable residents in Honiton.

Neighbourhood Friends is a volunteer based service, co-ordinated by Westbank Community Health and Care, which helps people who have either been discharged from hospital and are in need of extra support to settle back home, or helps people to remain living independently, thereby avoiding admission to hospital.

The service has developed two roles for people who want to volunteer but are unable to make a regular time commitment. Rapid Response & Welcome Home volunteers are called upon to help people who live in their communities on an ‘as and when basis’ – for example to help with shopping for someone who has just been discharged from hospital. These small acts of kindness make such a difference at what can be a very difficult time for people living in our communities without those vital support networks.

If you would like to find out more about our volunteering opportunities the two charities are hosting an afternoon tea at the Methodist Church Hall, Chapel Street, Honiton on Wednesday 20th September 2017 between 2.00pm – 5.00pm.  Alternatively please telephone the Neighbourhood Friends team on 01392 823690.

We look forward to meeting you!
