Sarah Sluman, Day Care Services Manager

About my role at Westbank

I joined Westbank in 2015; my role is to manage the day to day operations of day care and to deliver a person-centred day care service.

I have worked in the care sector for over 20 years in a range of residential and nursing settings, as part of a team supporting people with specific health needs with all aspects of daily living. For the last 11 years I have worked in a management role.

When I joined Westbank I found that particularly enjoyed the social aspect of day care and the interaction with clients, getting involved in activities with them and seeing the positive impact it has, not to mention the lively debates we have about current news on a daily basis.

My values

Enhancing people’s everyday living with activities tailored to their preference, promoting inclusion, improving their wellbeing and enabling independence is vitally important to me. It is great to see the benefits of what we offer to people attending the centre directly and through feedback from their families.

My personal interests

Family is very important to me, I am married and have two children, and I enjoy spending time with them, well most of the time they are teenagers!

I also enjoy going for walks and reading.

The best thing about my role is working in an organisation where support can be accessed from various services and where our staff and volunteers work together to get the best outcomes for people using the service.
