Some people who live alone can feel isolated or lonely, as they either no longer have family or friends or they are unable to visit on a regular basis. This is particularly true for people who have long term health or mobility conditions which prevent them from getting out of their home to join in with community or social activities.

Tea for Two Friends volunteers can and do make such a difference to people lives by giving their time to visit the home of a lonely person to enjoy some good conversation and a cup of tea!

What’s required …

Pledge – This role will require a regular time commitment of up to 2 hours per week.

What’s involved – Visiting a person in their home, making a cup of tea and enjoying good conversation.

Qualities and skills – Our Tea for Two Friends Volunteers will need to be patient and understanding, enjoy talking and listening to people, be reliable and discreet.

Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) – this role will require volunteers to complete a DBS check

Training and support - All volunteers will receive induction training, which covers information on issues such as confidentiality, a detailed information about the role of a Tea for Two Friends Volunteer and the support you will receive from the staff team to help you.

Expenses - You will be reimbursed for all agreed out of pocket travel costs
