Walking is great for your health and puts a spring in your step. Walking for Health is a network of 600 health walk schemes in towns and villages across England, with regular short walks each week. Anyone can turn up and join in – it’s free, fun and friendly.

Westbank Walking for Health is a programme of Health Walks in Exeter, Mid Devon and the Westbank areas. Joining a walk can improve health and happiness, and offers the chance to explore the outdoors, get to know the local area and meet new friends. Walks are organised by Westbank in partnership with Macmillan and Ramblers.

There are three walk levels:

Short level 1 – up to 30 minutes

Local walks on flat ground or gentle slopes with mainly firm surfaces. No steps or stiles.

Medium Level 2 – Approx. 30 – 60 minutes

Walks may include moderate slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and possibly stiles.

Long Level 3 – Approx. 45 – 90 minutes

Walks may include steeper slopes, steps, uneven surfaces and stiles.

Our Volunteer Walk Leaders are fully trained and we are always looking for more. Please contact us to find out more about being a Volunteer Walk Leader. Thank You

General Information:

Please wear suitable clothing, strong supportive footwear, and bring a bottle of water. As these are health walks we ask that you do not smoke during the walk.

Most walks include a social coffee stop either during or at the end of the walk, at walker’s own expense.

Walk Leaders may need to cancel a walk at short notice due to weather conditions, but would always be at the start point to notify walkers. Walkers do so at their own risk.
