Young Carers Support Worker (x2 Roles) Westbank is a registered charity established in 1986 and became company limited by guarantee in 2007. The organisation was originally set up to provide practical and emotional support to people in the villages along the west bank of the River Exe. The organisation now works with communities and individuals across Devon. Devon Carers is one of the largest and most successful carer’s services in the UK, providing information and support to 20,000 unpaid carers of all ages, and is the focus for the delivery of a number of services for unpaid carers of all ages across Devon. These include: Awareness-raising and identification of unpaid carers of all ages; A countywide helpline, providing easy access to information and support; A team of support staff providing Young Carers Needs Led Assessments, Transition Assessments, trips/activities and time-limited one-to-one support. Overall Job Purpose: To undertake assessments of young carers in order to identify their needs; To support the provision of practical and emotional support for young carers by planning, organising, delivering, monitoring and evaluating respite breaks/trips and activities, including residentials; Where relevant, support local communities (child-friendly places) e.g. schools, youth clubs to provide regular drop-ins / clubs for young carers and attend where appropriate to do so; Undertake particular areas of specialisms linked to young carers issues and share knowledge with colleagues; e.g. bullying, mental ill health, digital wellbeing, neglect, CSE, radicalisation.
