Young Carers Support Worker - Southern Devon County Council has appointed Westbank as preferred provider for The Devon Young Carers service. The focus of delivery for the service, is embedded within Devon’s Early Help, will champion children/young people’s voice and engagement at every level of its delivery. This will include; Awareness raising amongst partners to promote early identification and referral into the service. A countywide helpline, providing easy access to information and support. A team of support staff providing Young Carers Needs Led Assessments, Transition Assessments, trips/activities and time-limited one-to-one support. The groups, which this worker will run, will be after school time in Ivybridge and Totnes. Ability to travel throughout the rest of the Southern area (Teignbridge, South Hams & West Devon) is essential. Shortlisting Criteria: Experience of working with for Children/young people Experience of assessing and meeting carers needs (including emotional). Understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of young carers and their families Good knowledge / understanding of carers and their issues. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to empathise with the needs of carers.
