Westbank Health Walks is a programme currently in Exeter, Mid Devon and the Westbank areas and offers the chance to explore the outdoors, get to know the local area and meet new friends. 

Westbank have been delivering walks for 20 years and are wanting to grow and look for opportunities to reach more people in their communities across Devon.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Westbank Health and Wellbeing Team. Westbank is an award-winning charity with strong links across Devon working closely with both local and the wider communities to promote Health and Wellbeing. This role is an opportunity to demonstrate innovation, energy and grow an already successful project.

The successful candidate will support a Team of Volunteer Walk Leaders and be responsible for recruitment, training and development of those individuals. You will be supported by our Volunteer Engagement Manager and our Health and Wellbeing Lead.

You will build relationships with key people, organisations and settings in the local areas, to raise awareness and understanding of Westbank Health Walks. You will engage with local communities through workshops, events and talks to promote Health Walks and engage with local Health and Wellbeing Professionals.

This role will require you to travel to different location across the delivery area.

About You and Role Requirements

  • Energetic and proactive individual with a passion for Health and Wellbeing.
  • You should have experience of working in a Health and Wellbeing setting and an understanding of the Voluntary Sector.
  • Explore parts of the local communities to identify gaps in provision for certain groups and how Health Walks can be utilised to encourage peer support and create stronger networks for those who maybe experiencing mental health difficulties, loneliness and isolation or socially marginalised due to ethnicity or gender etc.
  • Create inclusive opportunities to reach people in more economically or geographically challenged communities.
  • You will be capable of working on your own initiative and manage your workload as well as being adaptable and solution focused.
  • You will a work effectively as part of a team, alongside volunteers and colleagues to deliver your activities.
  • Attend networking events to develop community links.
  • Manage the gathering of evaluation data in partnership with the wider Team.
  • Contribute to  reports for Funders.
  • The ability to maintain records.
  • Excellent administrative and IT skills (Experience with CRM, Microsoft, Excel, Canva)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative, be flexible and think creatively.
