About the role:

We are looking to recruit a talkative, sociable and active Volunteering Support Worker who will become a proactive member of our Devon Carers team!

You will support the Volunteering team, which includes working alongside Westbank and Devon Carers volunteering teams, Carers Ambassadors Scheme and the Time for You project, and support the delivery of these schemes.

You will play a vital part in the development and coordination of a network of volunteers across Devon, to support the development of opportunities to increase volunteer participation in the delivery of Devon Carers Services.

 As the Volunteering Support Worker:

  • You will support the development, implementation, and monitoring of an annual plan for the use of volunteers across the service, identifying and working with relevant lead members of staff and partner organisations where appropriate
  • You will support the promotion of volunteering through specific campaigns and working with Devon Carers and Westbank’s Volunteering Team and local Volunteer Centres
  •  You will play an active role in the recruitment of volunteers, effectively implementing volunteering policies and procedures and promoting best practice.
  • You will support the planning, coordination and delivery of developments in volunteering – including supporting the Time for You Sitting Service and Carers Ambassadors as required.
  • You will support the Time for You Sitting service by undertaking assessment visits to home of those receiving the service
  • You will support the Lead Practitioner – Volunteering with managing the volunteers, including peer supervision as appropriate for those undertaking support calls with carers and ad-hoc administrative tasks.
  • You will support the Volunteering team with ad-hoc tasks within the scope of the role

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of building relationships with stakeholders.

Rate of pay: £14,990.98 pro rata - £24,651.83 FTE

Hours per week: 22.5 hrs

Location: Hybrid – Home/Westbank Office

Contract: Fixed term until 30/04/2025

Devon Carers is a service delivered by Westbank, and is one of the largest and most successful carer’s services in the UK, providing information and support to over 27,000 unpaid carers of all ages. Devon Carers is the focus for the delivery of a number of services for carers of all ages across Devon, including peer support, hospital services and young carers.
