Booking and Payment
  • Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.
  • Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved without payment.
  • Class fees vary depending on the session and are clearly stated on the booking information.
Adult and Child Participation
  • Adult-only classes are open to participants aged 18 years and over.
  • For family classes, a responsible adult (aged 18+) must remain with participating children for the duration of the session.
  • The maximum number of adults and children permitted per booking will be specified in the individual class description.
  • Parents and guardians remain responsible for the supervision and behaviour of children attending family sessions.
Neurodivergent-Friendly Sessions
  • Our neurodivergent-friendly sessions are designed to provide a calmer, more supportive environment through smaller group sizes, adapted delivery, and additional time where possible.
  • Whilst every effort is made to create an inclusive environment, participants remain responsible for determining whether a session is suitable for their individual needs.
  • Parents, carers, or guardians should notify the Cookery School of any support requirements when booking.
Arrival and Attendance
  • Participants should arrive 15 minutes before the advertised start time to allow for registration, refreshments, and set-up.
  • Late arrivals may miss important safety information and demonstrations. The Community Cookery School reserves the right to refuse participation where late arrival would compromise safety or disrupt the session.
Dietary Requirements and Allergens
  • Any allergies, intolerances, or dietary requirements must be disclosed at the time of booking.
  • Whilst we take reasonable precautions and may offer specialist classes (including gluten-free sessions), all classes take place in a kitchen where allergens may be present.
  • We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
  • Participants attend and consume food at their own discretion and risk.
Health and Safety
  • Participants are expected to follow all instructions provided by course tutors regarding health, safety, hygiene, and the safe use of kitchen equipment.
  • Westbank Community Health and Care reserves the right to ask any participant to leave a session if their behaviour places themselves or others at risk.
  • Participants should wear suitable clothing and closed-toe footwear for practical cooking activities.
  • Anyone who is unwell with a contagious illness should not attend the session and should inform the Cookery School as soon as possible.
Food Preparation and Take-Home Items
  • Participants are encouraged to bring suitable containers to take home any food prepared during the session.
  • Food produced during classes is intended for personal consumption only.
  • The Community Cookery School cannot accept responsibility for the storage, transportation, or consumption of food once it has left the premises.
Cleaning and Participation
  • Classes are designed to be interactive and hands-on.
  • Participants are expected to assist with cleaning and tidying their cooking station and equipment at the end of the session.
Photography and Marketing
  • Photographs and videos may occasionally be taken during sessions for promotional, marketing, and charitable purposes.
  • Please inform a member of staff before the class begins if you do not wish to appear in photographs or videos.
Cancellations and Refunds
  • As places on our courses are limited and reserved for specific dates, course fees are non-refundable once a booking has been confirmed.
  • If you are unable to attend, please notify us as soon as possible.
  • In some circumstances, a refund may be considered if your place can be filled by another participant from a waiting list. Any such refund will be at the discretion of Westbank Community Health and Care.
  • Missed sessions cannot be refunded, transferred, or replaced with alternative classes.
  • Westbank Community Health and Care reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or amend a course due to insufficient numbers, staff illness, unforeseen circumstances, or events beyond our control. In such cases, participants will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
Liability
  • Participants attend classes at their own risk.
  • The Community Cookery School accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings brought onto the premises.
  • Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion would be unlawful.
Supporting Our Community
  • By booking a place on one of our cookery classes, you are investing in more than just a cooking experience. Every ticket sold helps support the charitable work of Westbank Community Health and Care, enabling us to provide accessible community cookery sessions and wellbeing programmes for local people. Your participation helps us bring people together, build skills, reduce isolation, and make a positive difference within our community.
