Volunteers play a vital role in helping the Westbank team to provide a welcoming and positive experience for customers visiting Café on the Corner.

Under the supervision of the team, duties will include:

  • Support the team with the running of the café
  • Welcoming visitors and working with other members of the café team to provide the best service for customers
  • Prepare food in accordance with the daily menu requirements
  • Take orders and serve at the till
  • Serve food and drinks to the customers
  • Carry out the washing up of crockery, glassware, cutlery and utensils
  • Ensure the café environment is clean, tidy and safe at the end of the day by ensuring out of date food is disposed of and food is clearly labelled and put away.

Qualities and skills required:

  • Reliable
  • Enthusiastic
  • Friendly and welcoming
  • An interest in food and hospitality. Some flexibility on availability would be useful, but not essential
  • Some experience of preparing fresh food would be useful
  • Food hygiene awareness, training will be given.

Volunteers will receive:

  • Induction training
  • Specific training according to their role
  • A point of contact for support and/or guidance
  • Social opportunities
  • Agreed out of pocket expenses reimbursed.
