DIY Friends support people with short or long term health conditions who are without family and friends to help them to complete small DIY tasks.

The main task our DIY Friends are asked to do is to fit a key safe to enable Carers and Community Nurses to gain access to a patient’s home to provide care. Other tasks could include fitting a shelf or replacing a washer on a tap.

Qualities and skills required?

Our DIY Friends will need to be patient and understanding, have practical DIY skills and be reliable and discreet.

Volunteers will receive

  • Induction training
  • Specific training according to their role
  • A point of contact for support and or guidance
  • Social opportunities
  • Agreed out of pocket expenses reimbursed
